▪ Precision Civil Engineering Inc. congratulates three employees on recent achievements. Urpi Arriola received her PE license, and Jared Linney and Jared Jones both graduated from Fresno State and started as a full time project engineers.

▪ Fresno Rotary welcomed new members Jen Karibian, Soyla Reyna-Griffin, Mario Soberal, Ashley Swearengin and Jon Zumwalt.

Awards

▪ Kaiser Permanente Fresno received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award with Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite Plus. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to providing the most appropriate stroke treatment according to nationally recognized guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.

Donations

▪ Saint Agnes Medical Center was gifted $185,994 by the Saint Agnes Men’s Club to benefit the advancement of 15 hospital programs and services affecting patients and the community. The donation will help provide new medical equipment, scholarships for junior volunteers, additional funding for the Saint Agnes Heavenly Hounds pet therapy program, and supplies and resource materials for patients and their family members.

▪ Fig Garden Rotary Club provided a grant for $2,000 to Design Science Early College High School to support their Academic Decathlon team. This grant will allow the team to engage with other teams in competitions around the county.

▪ The Cinco De Mayo Annual Charity Golf Tournament will donate $55,000 to The First Tee of Fresno, raising the largest donation to date for the charity at this year’s sold out event, which was held on May 5 at the Copper River Country Club.

New Faces

▪ Yosemite Unified School District named C. Lynn Greenberg as the school system’s new leader. She earned her degrees including a Doctor of Education degree from South Carolina State University. She spent many years as a classroom teacher and site administrator, as well as broad experience at the district level. Greenberg will take the reins from interim acting superintendent Leonard Kahn on July 1.

▪ Precision Civil Engineering Inc. added four to its staff. They are: Gina Maselli, marketing and business development manager; Vanida Beigy, senior project manager; Lauren Pratt, CAD specialist in landscape architecture division; and Nick Foster, CAD technician.

▪ Family HealthCare Network added Angela Okonta and Drs. Katherine Overton and Sophia Peng to its provider team. Patients at FHCN’s Hanford Health Center will have access to family medicine services from Okonta, OB/GYN services from Dr. Overton, and dental services from Dr. Peng. Okonta completed her physician assistant program at the City College of New York and received a Bachelor of Science with honors in anthropology, biology and chemistry. In addition to speaking English, she is proficient in Igbo, a Nigerian dialect. Overton earned her Bachelor of Arts in biology from the University of California, San Diego and her medicine degree from the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. Peng completed her Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of California, Los Angeles and her Doctor of Dental Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona. She speaks English and Mandarin.

▪ Valin Brown is the new chief executive officer for Alliant Educational Foundation. The nonprofit organization has one campus in Fresno.

New Locations

▪ JD Food opened a new 65,000 square foot food distribution center at 4671 E. Edgar Ave. in Fresno. The expansion project began in December 2015 to provide the family-owned food distributor the space needed to support its continued growth, which is expected to add 144 employees to its workforce by 2025. The expansion is part of an agreement with the city of Fresno for JD Food to invest a minimum of $10.5 million over the next 10 years.

Promotions

▪ Caglia Environmental has promoted two career staff members to operational positions at its Fresno solid waste and recycling collection company, Industrial Waste and Salvage. Daniel Ramos was promoted to the position of operations manager and Tammy Nelson to senior operations specialist. Ramos worked in the solid waste industry for four years in customer service before beginning his 13 year career at the Caglia Environmental companies as a dispatcher. Nelson began her 10 year career at IWS after 13 years of previous experience in the solid waste industry, both in billing and as an office manager.
