▪ Lorraine Salazar received a Faces of Diversity Award from the California Restaurant Association Foundation in April and is the chairwoman of the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce. She is the co-owner of Sal’s Mexican Restaurants and has been a longtime voice for workforce development in the Central Valley.
▪ Fig Garden Woman’s Club donated a total of $12,000 to the following local organizations: Boys & Girls Clubs of Pinedale, $1,000; Central Valley Veterans, $1,500; Discovery Center, $1,500; Focus Forward, $1,250; Fresno Art Museum, $750; Fresno Police Chaplaincy, $1,500; Hinds Hospice Angel Babies, $750; Safe Families, $500; Salvation Army Gable House, $1,500; Storyland, $500; Valley Animal Center, $750; and Veteran’s Memorial Museum, $750.
▪ Chevron will make up to $200,000 available to support Fresno County school classrooms through an innovative collaboration with DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that empowers public school teachers from across the country to request much-needed materials that will enhance the learning experience for their students.
▪ Chief Joe Garza of the Reedley Police Department, along with 223 other law enforcement officers, graduated from the FBI National Academy Program at Quantico, Virginia, on Sept. 15.
▪ Fig Garden Woman’s Club awarded a total of $8,000 in scholarships to the following 16 students enrolled in the Fresno City College nursing/RN program: Mai Yang, Ravinder Kaur, Susanne Ambriz, Stephanie Torres, LaToya Woods, Meimei Chen, Breann Jacobson, Peggy Ferolito, Coua Yang, Alyssa Caro, Juan Alaniz, Harman Kaur, Loreal Richardson, Alison Williams, Carolyn Covarruvia and Sandy Vang. Recipients will be honored on Wednesday at the luncheon and general meeting of the Woman’s Club.
▪ Fig Garden Rotary Club provided a grant of $800 to Feed Our Future.
▪ The Board of Directors of Central Valley Community Bancorp announced the completion of the acquisition of Folsom Lake Bank. Three full-service branches located in Folsom, Rancho Cordova and Roseville merged into Central Valley Community Bank. The name and physical signage change will be completed in February 2018.

▪ EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants, a retail property, casualty insurance brokerage and employee benefits consultant, announced Tim House has joined the firm as a property and casualty insurance broker/producer in EPIC's Fresno office.

▪ Fresno Tractor Supply held a grand opening Sept. 30 at its new location, 6710 N. Brawley Ave.
