Las Vegas shooting victim, Sanger native Jessica Milam undergoes new successful surgery

Jessica Milam, a Sanger native and Disneyland employee injured in the Las Vegas mass shooting Sunday, has made progress in her recovery, her father says.

Ed Milam said Friday night that his daughter underwent lung surgery to repair a hole and to remove a bullet fragment. He said the surgery was successful.

Milam is on temporary dialysis, he said, and doctors will re-evaluate her in the morning.

On Thursday, her father had said Milam was hooked to a ventilator at a Las Vegas hospital intensive-care unit.

A prayer circle for Milam and other Las Vegas shooting victims was held Thursday night at Reagan Elementary in Sanger.

Milam was one of hundreds injured at the Route 91 Harvest music festival Sunday in the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
